TRANSLATION WITH TRANSLATOR'S COMMENTS
Pithiviers, June 24, 1942
My dear wife and dear Jacqueline,
I can let you know that I am writing to you for the last time from here, as we are leaving Pithiviers; it seems we are going to work somewhere else. Beloved wife, do not worry, you have to know that I am not alone in this situation, almost everybody is leaving.
My dear Pola, I am asking you to be brave and to take very good care of our little Jacqueline. I am finishing these few words, I am doing my best to be brave and return to you soon. I am bidding you farewell and kissing you and Jacqueline.
Regards for everybody, see you soon, my beloved
Leon
Regards for Mrs. Pardelant (the janitor)
